Microsoft has deleted a tweet from the official Windows Twitter account that showed someone using an iMac that can’t actually run Windows.
The tweet was highlighting an article that was all about showing people “how to clean and run your device safely and smoothly.”
The problem was that the hero image used by the company was that of an M1 iMac. Famously, M1 iMac — just as is the case with any Apple silicon Mac — can’t run Windows.
As you can imagine, the instant the image was shared to Twitter it became something for people to laugh at with some wondering why a machine running Windows wasn’t chosen. After all, Microsoft has its own PC line including the Surface Pro and similar machines.
Microsoft has now deleted the tweet from its official Windows Twitter account, presumably after some panicked social media manager spotted that they were getting the wrong kind of engagement from the tweet.
Apple’s M1 Macs can’t run Windows at all, but those who still have an Intel Mac can make use of Boot Camp. Microsoft could have used an older iMac in its image, of course, but it didn’t and now the internet has had another good laugh at its expense.
