New software aims to speed up operations

New online software geared to help streamline Kootenai County’s Community Development Department operations and customer service is set to launch on July 19.

The new iMS Solution software will replace the current ETRAKIT community development system.

Under the new system, customers will submit and track project applications to an online portal through a secure account.

According to a Keeping Kootenai news release, the iMS Solution offers a “standardized, paperless permit and project process with information more readily accessible throughout the life cycle of any project.”

To assist local applicants who have become accustomed to the ETRAKIT system, county staff plan to host a live and virtual training session on June 23 for all who are interested.

“The new online iMS program will definitely improve our efficiency,” Community Development Director David Callahan said in the release. “While we can’t promise that it will always speed up the approval process for more complicated projects, it will make it possible for my staff to share notes and progress reports in the most efficient manner, all within view of the public.”
