The Day – Stonington moves building permit application process online

Stonington — The town has announced that beginning Monday residents and contractors can apply for building permits online.

The town said its has partnered with OpenGov “to provide building permitting software to drive efficiency for staff and improve the quality and convenience of services for community members.”

While the online service will begin Monday, the town said the Building Department will continue to accept paper applications for two months. But the town “strongly urged” people to use the online service as those who file paper applications may experience processing delays.

“We are excited that OpenGov will help our staff be more effective within the Building Department.
